Emoticon Unhappy Re: Low Fetal Heart Rate

Hi, I went yesterday for my first ultrasound and I measured to be at 7 weeks 0 days with a heart rate of 91 bpm... my OB said it was lower than normal and we needed to follow up with another U/S next week. She also could not see the yolk sac which she said she was not too concerned with that b/c it could be hiding behind the baby. I am super nervous... I miscarried 3 years ago and would be heartbroken if this happened again! Has anyone had this situation?

I was heartened to read about your experience. My daughter had her first u/s today (she is 6 weeks 6 days) and the baby's heartrate was 84. She is upset and scared- this being her first baby. She is scheduled for another u/s in one week- if anyone else has had a positive result having an early low heart rate. I would appreciate hearing from you.

Above poster, I am in same boat as you. Unfortunately I don't have an immediate answer. My husband and I found out 2 days ago we were expecting. We were not planning on this pregnancy at all, but are happy nonetheless. Point being I've been drinking, working out heavily, not really taking care of myself to prepare for motherhood--and I was super nervous going for first u/s today. I am 6 wks 1 day according to my dr, and HR was 78. I haven't had any bleeding or miscarriage symptoms, and baby is measuring great. I am totally on pins and needles, but am praying that everything will work out accordingly. I will keep you posted when I go for my follow up u/s next week. I have read very conflicting data all over the internet. People saying it's normal, heart could have just developed and begun beating, etc. Enough to make my head spin... So I am just leaning on faith at this point that it everything will workout for the best

I swore I wasn't going to check this board anymore but on happen stance I came back.... I am the original poster of this thread and would just like to report that I am going to be 30 weeks this Sunday with the same little bub that started out with such a low heart rate. Apparently we just went in too early and he was just starting out so to the other mothers who have baby's with low fetal heart rates do not despair yet.... there is hope that your baby will be just fine. I also asked my OB if the low heart rate in the beginning was any future indication that there would be problems and he said a big NO! Good luck mommas!!

That's kind of alarming if the baby in your wound has a low heart beat. Are there any causes why is this such?

This thread has given me hope. My last 2 pregnancies have ended in miscarriage. Today I had an ultrasound that showed no yoke sack and a h/r of 102-106 bpm. I'm 6w 3d and terrified. Thanks for sharing, it helps!

To the poster above: best of luck to you and your baby. When I started this thread, all I wanted was a little hope... someone with a similar story and a positive outcome. My little guy is still going strong (34 wks pregnant). I wish the same for you.
