Default Low Fetal Heart Rate

I had my dr's appt today and was surprised that my baby's heart rate is only 91 bpm.... the baby measures at 6w 4d but the sonographer said I could be up to 7w 0d pregnant. She wants to do another sonogram in six days to see if the heart beat has increased. I would REALLY like to hear anyone's story about having a low fetal heart rate at first and then going on to have a normal, healthy pregnancy/baby. I'm extremely nervous that this pregnancy will miscarry.....

Just an update..... went for a second, follow-up u/s this morning and all is well. Baby is measuring right on target and the heart rate is up to 138 bpm which is well within the normal range.
Although I will not be posting to this board any longer as I can't believe that not one of the 66 people that viewed my posting could even be bothered enough to send a well wish or good luck my way. That is not what I thought this due date club was all about.
So I will say congrats to all those pregnant and all the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I just read your blog and it gives me hope as I am also in the same situation. I'm going in for my follow-up u/s today to see if there has been an increase in heart rate.

Thanks so much.

I am six weeks exactly and my babies heart rate was at 91. I was also told my yolk sac was abnoramally large. My doctor said my chances were really slim. Has anyone had something similar?

Wink Re: Low Fetal Heart Rate

Hello,
I am not pregnant, but I was doing a search online for a research paper & encountered this thread. I wanted to post a word of encouragement. I just turned 32 last week. In utero, my heart rate was inordinately low; physicians kept a close eye on my mother, but also informed her that I was definitely a boy. During delivery it became apparent that I was not male but female; I was extremely bradycardic due to nuchal cord (the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck). Further, I was hypoxic, anaemic, and jaundiced. I don't intend to scare you by this: it was a rough delivery & I was put on special formula, but everything turned out fine. I have no deformities or brain damage; in fact, I am currently a PhD candidate on full & very generous scholarships... Bear in mind that this was 1977: medical science has dramatically improved since then! Stop worrying. Perhaps you are having a healthy, future (female) university professor.

At my 6 week ultrasound my baby's heartrate was at 75! They diagnosed it with bradycardia and told me that there was a 90% chance I would miscarry soon. 3 days ago I had my 20 week ultrasound and my little boy's heart rate was perfect at 135! He was just a late starter I guess. Subsequent ultrasounds showed normal heart rates(7 weeks- 115, 8 1/2 weeks- 176, 13 weeks - 148, 20 weeks- 135)
