Default tailbone dislocation

Hi I dislocated my tailbone about 7yrs ago after my daughter was born. My doctor told me there were 2 solutions. One to get pregnant again or get surgery. I didn't do either one. Now I'm scared of what can happen since I just found out I'm pregnant again. Does anyone here know of someone who has delivered a baby with a dislocated tailbone? I think my bone is pretty much set in the position it stayed in. My thoughts are that I may have to get a c-section. I'm scared that my tailbone may press/hurt the baby in the little space it has, once it gets bigger.

~thanks

..hello there. I don't have any answers for you. But I guess it would be better if you consult your doctor.

Best regards!

Sorry I didn't respond earlier...I've been quite sick with the vomiting & nausea. It's taking so much from me.... I still need to decide about using my current Dr. for my pregnancy. I have an MD but I'm wondering if it may be best to look for an OB that specializes in higher risk pregnancies or if I may be just fine with my newer Dr.? I moved a couple yrs ago & couldn't continue to see my old Dr due to the driving distance. My husband thinks it doesn't really matter who I see. I've never had complications with my other children...but I didn't have a thyroid problem or a dislocated tailbone. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you....

Hi! Sorry, I have no answer for you, but I do have a question! I dislocated my tailbone by slipping on the ice on the way to the hospital to deliver my 4th baby via C-section! How about that! At the hospital they told me there was nothing I could do but wait, I'd feel better in about 6 weeks. Well, the 6 weeks are up and I'm still in major tailbone misery...how long did it take till you were pain free? Thanks!

Oh my I'm so sorry, that's terrible.... I don't remember exactly how long it took me to be pain free? I'd estimate about 3-6 months. My daughter was born in the 1st wk of june (it happened during this month) & I had to work on the last days of nov due to financial issues we were facing. My Dr took xrays & said it was pretty bad he suggested I use a pillow that looked like a donut to minimize the pain while sitting, or to try & fix it by getting pregnant right away or getting surgery. You may want to try the donut pillow (I didn't try it)? I do remember he said not to wait too long that's why I'm worried about this pregnancy.

I hope you start feeling better soon,... try not to put too much pressure on it. Take care

Oh no! I would be worried too! What has the doctor said about it? I'd definitely check with him/her. Best of luck and my thoughts are with you!

I called my previous Dr.'s office asking if he thought I'd have complications? He said no just like this new Dr I'm seeing. Now I wonder why he said not to wait too long? I told the nurse about this but she didn't say she'd ask him. My new Dr said that what matters is the space in the uterus? She also mentioned there are drugs to help the pain... I told her I wouldn't take the epidural. I didn't take drugs with my last 4 so why would I now? It's a bit strange but that's how I end up getting my strength...by telling myself, the harder I try then the sooner the pain will go away?!?!?!

I feel like asking for a copy of my x-rays to see if I can get another opinion from a high risk pregnancy OB. Unless I just stop worrying about it & wait until the time comes to give birth? Then I will know if I can do it or not? Something tells me that if I can I will be in a lot more pain than with my other pregnancies. I just hope this baby is not big like my first one...Dr said it was pure baby! Thanks for your support!

My tailbone was dislocated 30 years ago with the birth of my first child. It was uncomfortable for a few months, especially when I exercised. The donut helped when I had to sit. I didn't get any advice from the doctor. I had a second child 21 months later, no problems during pregnancy, and it was a normal delivery. It did not dislocate again.
