Question How old was your ds/dd?

When you started potty training?
I would Love to have my ds trained around the age of 2.
I don't remember much with dd. I think she was like 26 months old.

DD was 23 months when she potty trained; we let her play outside in terry cloth panties and all it took was one pee and she had enough of that! DS was 38 months lol. He was definitely more difficult and had no desire to do it, except when school started and he realized he couldn't go unless he lost the diapers.

I have a feeling that with my ds he will be late to potty train. He is much different than my dd. Should be very interesting...lol

Well one good sign..
Whenever he is wet he takes his diaper off..
He must not like it!

how old is your ds? dd1 has been talking off her wet diaper for 6 months at least :lol but she def would not have been potty trained then.

i hope this IS a good sign for you though - just remember it takes longer for boys "usually" so don't get discouraged

Hey Jen,

Brendan was starting to use the potty frequently as soon as the New Year started when was in january right after the ball dropped he walked and sat at the potty and went then it just continued and continued sometimes there were accidents but by the time it got to mid april he would barely have any accidents. He was 3 yrs 5 months old.

Brendan is now 4 and he does have some accidents and the only reason why is he either knows he has to go & starts heading there to go use the potty but if he sees his transformer laying on the ground or sees the cat he will forget where he was going and go mommy i went pee or sometimes he forgets when he gets busy playing or his attention is focused at one fun thing then it's gone from his mind .

Otherwise he does 'really good' I told him that his penis would tell his brain that he has to go pee and he had had no issues with going poo in there unless he gets the other kind he tries to make it but sometimes he's not quick in that area!

I never forced him or did any of that continous put on toilet every 15 min-30 min in the hr .

I first showed him the potty chair sometimes he would sit on it but not always and i even got a toilet seat lid for him to sit on.

I put a stool up there in case if the tallness of the toilet made him uneasy so he could support his feet.

He saw kids his age using the bathroom at his preschool last year that didn't really sway him that much sometimes they thought you should try & give him a treat after he uses the potty that didn't really sway him because too much of something can get you very tired of something .

On Christmas day he saw his cousin who is also his best friend who is 4 yrs older than him using the potty and it's like he wanted to be like him because a week later he was directing "himself to use the potty '

Traci,
Thats what I am leaning towards with John. I don't thing we will even think about potty training until he is around 2 (if he is ready).
