Default Haven't spread the news yet

I'm 42 (soon to be 43) and am 9 weeks along... due in December. I have a 13year-old daughter and 2 1/2 year old son. This pregnancy was a surprise and I know I should be so happy for the news but I find that I've been too preoccupied with "what ifs" that I've been reluctant to tell anyone. With all the concerns that come with being of "advanced maternal age" and the guilt I've felt for not being completely overjoyed with being pregnant again, I've kept things quiet.

Has anyone else felt this way? Any advice?

I have had many mcs so I don't tell too many people when we get pg. I wait until 12 weeks when we first hear a hb. The more I'm on the internet the more I hear about all the things that can go wrong.

Don't let yourself get caught up in that AMA label. You don't have to have any tests or be treated differently if you don't want to be.

Enjoy your pgcy. Truthfully, I have only been excited by 2 of my 9 pgcys. Both ended in mc. I love my children and want them all, but I just don't get all giddy over it, kwim? I'm sure your feelings will change as time goes on. It is still very early.

Congratulations!

I am not sure 42 is such a big deal now to be having children .. more and more women now are waiting till their late 30s and 40s to TTC. Regardless I hope you are feeling well and your OB is taking care of you. Please post some updates when you can.
