Default Is a VBAC for me? (I hope)

I am pregnant and due in 4 months - January 20th, 2010)... I also have a daughter that just turned 1. My two children will be 16 months apart. For my first child, I learned that she was breech 2 days before I was due , so I attempted an unsuccessful version (I would never recommend this to anyone), and had to have a c-section the following day. I am SO interested in having this 2nd baby vaginal, but worry about the risks. I know the risks are low, but when I look at my 1 year old, I wonder if it would be smarter to choose the lower risk option (c-section again). And to add to this question, I would like 4 children (5 if my husband will let me and I am sane then!), so is it safe to have that many c-sections? Oh, and my first child was 9lbs on her due date. That sounds huge, but I am 5'8" and average 155lbs...so I am not small...I have always thought that my body is a great size to deliver children (and the docs tell me that as well). I hope someone can give me some insight as to what to do. I would really really love to try to have this baby vaginally, not to mention I would love the recovery vs. a c-section. (I still have nightmares about that paralyzed feeling from the spinal...creeped me out)
Thank you all!

Megan

Default Re: Is a VBAC for me? (I hope)

Hi Megan! I've had two VBACs and I wouldn't do it any other way. ICAN is a great resource for information and support - International Cesarean Awareness Network and they're having a webinar on VBAC this Sunday and the next. Remember that a repeat c-section is not lower risk--it's just a different set of risks, and they do become more significant the more c-sections you have.
